Marwadi University amongst few select institutions to qualify for Gujarat Government’s Centre of Excellence status
New Delhi: Marwadi University, Gujarat’s only NAAC A+ accredited institution, today applied for the Gujarat State Government’s, Centre of Excellence (CoE) status, validating a long-standing commitment, to offer best in class learning experiences across a host of UG & PG programs. It is in the race with 6 other leading institutions, which will be awarded the coveted status for the very first time. Marwadi University is the only institution from Rajkot and the entire Saurashtra region to apply for CoE status, scoring an overall 84 percent in self-evaluation. A four-member expert committee appointed by the Government of Gujarat will do a site visit and assessment for independent verification.
Nine core parameters relating to infrastructure, students, academics, examination, faculty, research, consultancy & extension services, governance, and overall performance, have been utilized for assessment purposes. Marwadi University prides itself on continuously striving to offer the best in class education, industry-connect, and global knowledge exposure, developing the next-gen of future leaders across multiple disciplines. It offers B.Sc, BE, MBA, BCA, BBA, MCA, B.Com, programs across Engineering, Cyber Security, Business Analytics, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Law, and Architecture, among others.
The process of awarding the Centre of Excellence (CoE) status is expected to be completed within the next three months. Once awarded, the institutions will be granted complete autonomy across various operational processes, the benefits of which will be passed on to students. This will allow Marwadi University to further enhance its focus on improving recruitment and industry exposure, increase opportunities for research grants, MOU’s with international universities of repute, attract leading faculty to the campus, in an increasingly challenging and complex environment.
Spread across a 50+ acres campus, it is home to more than 9000 students from over 31 countries, taught by 500+ advanced educators that include 110+ Ph.D. faculty. A majority of them have also already been trained and certified from IIT Mumbai in online learning methodologies and teaching techniques, enabling them to deliver effective learning experiences in a blended environment.

Some of the other institutes that have submitted applications include Nirma University in Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad University, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Gandhinagar, Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT) Gandhinagar, and CEPT University Ahmedabad. Barring CEPT University which is an autonomous institute, all others are private institutions.
