Marwadi University and Intel partner to set up Intel Intelligent Systems Labs on campus

Rajkot : With a focus on driving industry-specific learning for industry 4.0 and enhancing student skillset and employability, Rajkot-based Marwadi University, together with Intel, has set up an Intel Intelligence System Lab at the institution, a multidisciplinary lab for Computer, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology as well as Electrical engineering streams.

FICE, along with Intel software aims to fill in the technological gap by educating students in the fields of Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), High-Performance Computing (HPC). This lab called the Intel Unnati Data-Centric Lab will strengthen the practices of cloud computing, edge computing, mobility and big data with the help of technologies like AI, Machine

Learning, Deep Learning, Data Analytics and Data Sciences, and Code Modernisation and Parallel Programming. Thereby, enabling future industry leaders to make informed decisions on optimizing operations and enhancing customer service standards, especially in industries such as healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, retail, automotive, and manufacturing amongst others.

The idea behind the lab, therefore, is to bring academia and industry together to address the skills gap in the new age technologies. Setting up of the lab is part of the Intel College Excellence Program, which also entails faculty development programs and enhanced career prospects for engineering students at MU.

Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Sancheti, Vice Chancellor (Provost), Marwadi University said, “Industry-academia alignment is crucial for students to seamlessly transition from student life to having a meaningful career. To enhance student learning, to provide students with a hands-on experience before their jobs, and to create placement opportunities, we are happy to have partnered with Intel to set up this futuristic and fully-equipped laboratory. All the core technologies offered here will have major real-life applications in companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. The AI lab will be a key facilitator in preparing our students for the industry.”

It is an addition to MU’s research and technology-driven initiatives for students including the presence of indigenously developed Param Shavak supercomputing system and Marwadi University Innovation and Incubation Research (MUIIR), a mentorship ecosystem to support students in the areas of business idea validation, business structure, intellectual property, financial health, and funding advice. The Intel Unnati lab will strive to promote the learning culture based on research and experiential learning, as well as career opportunities at MU.
