Marwadi University collaborates with Indonesian Educators for Teachers Training Program
New Delhi: With online classes set to become an integral part of a hybrid learning system, Marwadi University successfully conducted a teacher training program, for more than 1000 teachers from leading universities and high schools in Indonesia. Post invitation by the Indonesian government and educators, Marwadi University conducted the program on a pro bono basis, with the aim of strengthening international ties and setting up of a global collaborative network. Since many teachers are still struggling to effectively conduct classes online due to the sudden shift post-COVID, the program focused on ‘Communication Strategies for Effective Virtual Lessons’, led by Prof Dhananjay Singh and his team at the MU L&D department.
Marawdi University aims to offer a dynamic platform for quality education in the field of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology, or Management. Being the only institution in Gujarat accredited with NAAC A+ rating, MU has also invested heavily to up-skill its faculty, via initiatives in partnership IIT Bombay, The University of New South Wales, Coursera, IUCEE and University of California (Division of Continuing Education), amongst others.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr Y. P. Kosta, Vice-chancellor, Marwadi University, said “This Online Teacher Training program seeks to provide rigorous personal and professional training to teachers in the most effective way possible. With a user-friendly platform where they can access the training materials at their own convenience. We have big plans to scale this initiative up and provide the necessary support for the teacher community who mold future leaders of tomorrow”.
The Ministry of Higher Education, East Indonesia added that “Despite constraints the MU L&D team structured the material with clarity, humor, and accuracy. They set a perfect pace for both beginners and advanced practitioners. We especially appreciated how inclusive they were keeping everyone on track and addressing questions effectively.”
Teaching is a very dynamic field with continuously evolving innovations in pedagogy and tech integration, rendering professional development an ongoing, life-long process. A recent UNESCO report stated that over 320 million students in Indian schools and colleges have been severely affected during the ensuing pandemic. Even though digital readiness and adoption of online teaching methodologies was already in motion pre-COVID, there is a dire need to expedite the process through global collaborative efforts.
