Marwadi University inks MoUs to boost skill development and pharmaceutical industry-relevant training
New Delhi: Marwadi University is proud to announce today that it has made several positive strides to make advanced learning in the science and pharmaceutical space accessible to its students across disciplines. MU has signed three Memorandums of Understanding with Almelo Private Limited (Hyderabad), Lifeactivus Private Limited (Hyderabad), and Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC).
According to an EY-FICCI report 2021, which estimates that the Indian pharma industry could grow at a CAGR of ~12% to be $130 bn industry by 2030, the pandemic has accelerated several opportunities and challenges for the industry and it needs to continue building on its strength and at the same time make a giant leap towards innovation.
The collaboration with Alemelo focuses on providing final semester UG and PG students with rigorous training opportunities in the areas of organic synthesis and analysis of various synthesized products, and industrial exposure. The faculty will also be part of research and project collaborations, via the Faculty Industry Immersion Programme and a regular exchange of research publications, projects, and problem-solving methodologies.
“Lifeactivus Private Limited and Almelo Private Limited are research-intensive manufacturing units of APIs, intermediates, impurities, drug design and development and consultancy in the field of pharmaceuticals. We will share our respective R&D facilities and other allied infrastructure to promote academic and research interaction. This MoU will also help students of BSc and MSc recognize the importance of R&D, entrepreneurship, and start-ups in the specialized areas of drug discovery and development,” says Dr. Vicky Jain, Vice Principal, Faculty of Science and Head, Department of Chemistry, MU.
The University’s Faculty of Pharmacy is also endeavoring to fill the gap in industry and academia and enhance the skill sets and employability of students by signing an MoU with LSSSDC.
Under this, the final semester students of B.Pharm can undergo this training program as an elective subject. Students of BSc/MSc (Life Sciences/ Chemistry/ Biotech), and BE/BTech (Bio-Tech) department can also enroll in it.
“The New Education Policy emphasizes integrating skilling and education. The Pharmacy Council of India has also recommended in their prescribed curriculum of B.Pharm Semester 8, wherein students can take up the training from such councils as one of the elective subjects out of two. It’s a great opportunity for us to join hands with LSSSDC as a skilling partner for value-added internships and job-oriented programs,” says Dr Lalji Baldaniya, Principal, Faculty of Pharmacy, MU.

With the demand-based, dynamic skill-focused industry, it becomes necessary to train students as per the changing demands in order to contribute towards the nation and the society as a whole,” added Nareshkumar Jadeja, Registrar, Marwadi University.
