Rajkot : Aligned with its vision to internationalize higher education for its students, Marwadi University (MU) — the youngest institution to be recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Government of Gujarat — has entered into a strategic five-year agreement with the National University of Public Service (UPS) to encourage academic cooperation.

This is being done through scientific activities such as supporting mobility programs, the flow of scientific publications and related information between the two universities. It also offers training for MU and UPS students in programs at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels in all disciplines.

“The cooperation agreement with Hungary will form the basis for projects developed by other academic and administrative units for both universities, and will highlight the importance of public administration, international studies and water diplomacy between partner universities. The latter is the focus of the agreement, since both sides have identified a key element of cooperation in the field of water diplomacy and water management. Furthermore, International relations and international law are strong research areas of both universities and that will also be a focus area of our collaboration” said Dave Rhishikesh, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Marwadi University, who represented the university during the signing ceremony.

More recently, three students of MSc Environmental Science at MU’s Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, were selected for the prestigious scholarship under the theme “Circular Economy and Energy Transition Leaders” by Silesian University Of Technology, Poland. The scholarship amount will cover the students’ expenses for travel and accommodation during their stay in Poland.

“Marwadi University envisions becoming an epicentre of internationalization which merges global best practices with indigenous HEI innovation. Academic collaborations like these help us take learning beyond campus and across borders. Collaborations with HEIs in Poland and Hungary will help MU promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, enhance the quality of research, and provide opportunities for international learning and cultural exchange,” said Dr Kantha Deivi Arunachalam, Dean, Faculty of Science, Marwadi University.

It has also collaborated with the University of Dunaujvaros, Hungary to offer a dual-degree programme wherein enrolled BBA/BCom students can study for three years at MU campus and thereafter continue their study for another year in Hungary.

To internationalize education and opportunities for all learners, MU has also forged academic partnerships with universities in Romania, Brazil, USA, Germany, Czech Republic and Lithuania. On campus, Marwadi University has 1700+ international students from 53 countries including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Turkey, Tanzania, Zambia, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.
