Marwadi University Upskills its Faculty to Bridge the Gap in Digital Experience
New Delhi: In order to provide a dynamic approach to how education is being imparted online, Marwadi University, a leading private university based in Gujarat, has made it mandatory for the faculty members to undergo upskilling program. The initiative aims to enable effective lectures to be conducted by the faculty across all programs, so that students can optimize the same across levels. The upskilling certification courses have been undertaken from the likes of IIT Bombay, The University of New South Wales, Coursera, IUCEE and University of California (Division of Continuing Education).
Faculty members of Business Management and Liberal Studies, Engineering, Physiotherapy Pharmacy, Law, Computer Application and Faculty of Science has already undergone such training.
Courses like Learning to Teach Online, Multimodal Literacies: Communication and Learning in the Era of Digital Media, Virtual Teacher, Transitioning to Online Instruction, Advanced instructional strategies in the virtual classroom were part of the certificate course for all the faculty members. This initiative by Marwadi University will further help students in the new academic session and will offer a smooth online education system.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Y P Kosta, Vice Chancellor, Marwadi University, said, “Upskilling the faculty members was necessary in the era of online classes. We have invested a huge amount of time and energy, so that our faculty is equipped with a new set of skills. Our University is fully equipped and ready for the new semester to impart education in the new normal. We hope the students take the best advantage till classes resume on the campus.”
A host of online tools including Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Facebook Live, Youtube, EDpuzzle are being used to conduct the classes. Every day a minimum of at least 4 hours of online classes are being conducted by each department
The University had earlier in the month of June had facilitated the complete admission process online. The batch intake will follow strict social distancing norms till things get normal. The university has also adopted a hybrid/ blended learning model that will benefit the students while taking classes online.
