Marwadi University’s Faculty of Law to inaugurate state-of-the-art Moot Court Hall
Top Indian judges, educators to also address students in a one-day seminar
Rajkot: To further strengthen its legal studies infrastructure and build world-class lawyers, the Faculty of Law of the Rajkot-based Marwadi University (MU) will inaugurate a newly-constructed state-of-the-art moot court hall in its premises on August 14, Saturday.
The inauguration will be done by Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. R. Shah, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who will also deliver the keynote address at an accompanying day-long seminar on recent developments in Indian laws. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ilyesh Vora, Judge, High Court of Gujarat will be the Guest of Honour. The one-day seminar will feature sessions on laws such as The Consumer Law, Labour Law and introduction of the Model Tenancy Act.
The moot court hall includes HD tele-conferencing facilities and interiors that match the best of Indian courtrooms, to help students gain edge in the legal ecosystem.
“It is an important addition to MU’s law faculty, one that will allow students from MU and other universities to engage practically in simulations of actual court proceedings by preparing arguments on behalf of the applicant and the defense in a fictitious legal problem,” says Prof Rhishikesh Dave, Dean, Faculty of Law, MU.
In line with growing demand for legal education worldwide, the Faculty of Law, MU, currently offers B.Com. LL.B (Hons), B. A. LL.B.(Hons), LLM and PhD courses. It offers specialisation in criminal, commercial, constitutional and IP laws; electives in emerging areas in law like food, entertainment, air and space, energy; and 8 compulsory internships from first year itself.
Hon’ble Justice M. R. Shah says: “Life is full of challenges so while judiciary is concerned, everyday is a challenge and every matter is a challenge. Therefore, to face and overcome the challenges is itself an art. Challenges give you more and more opportunities to become successful and to achieve the ultimate goal. While the judiciary is concerned the ultimate goal is to provide justice to the needy without any delay.”
MU also recently held its first pan-India virtual moot court competition featuring 42 teams.
