Matter concerning photography of candidates at examination centres

ALIGARH : It has been alleged in some social media reports that on 08.06.2024, during the afternoon sitting at an examination centre of the University, some male persons forcibly removed the veil of some female candidates inside the classroom.

While no oral or written complaint has been received from any candidate, the matter was got examined. It was found that the allegation of forcibly removing the veil were totally untrue and exaggerated.

It may be noted that after routine checking and frisking of the candidates, all candidates are photographed along with their admit cards in their examination halls. This is to check against impersonation and maintain a record in case of any future enquiry. This practice is being followed for several years and is a deterrent to potential impersonators. However, one female candidate refused to get her photo taken by the male photographer assigned to that centre. The refusal and concern of the candidate was brought to the notice of the centre superintendent who immediately deputed a female teacher to attend and the matter was resolved.

It is reiterated that all candidates appearing in the examinations agree to comply with the instruction of the invigilators while appearing for the entrance tests. Several thousand students have already appeared for the University’s entrance exams and all have been photographed as per guidelines.

The University is committed to ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of the examinations, while continuing to engage with the feedback of all stakeholders.
