McMaster University: McMaster meets provincial timeline for new electronic monitoring policy
The province requires universities and all employers with more than 25 employees to have an electronic monitoring policy in place by October 11, 2022. McMaster’s new Electronic Monitoring Policy ensures full and open transparency about the electronic monitoring that is undertaken by the university.
“The new policy does not change the university’s practices or introduce new monitoring of any kind,” says Gayleen Gray, McMaster’s assistant vice-president and chief technology officer. “The policy ensures employees know about tools used on campus such as security cameras, swipe card access to rooms, email and GPS tools that may involve electronic monitoring.”
All employees are encouraged to read the Electronic Monitoring Policy online which provides further detail into specific electronic monitoring tools.
