MDP on ‘Supply Chain Management’

Aligarh: Experts from across academia and corporate world, addressed issues through key concepts that underpin supply chain excellence in the inaugural function of the five-day online Management Development Programme (MDP) of the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on ‘Supply Chain Management’ scheduled to conclude on July 9.

The keynote speaker, Prof Sunil Sharma (Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi), urged participants to adopt value as a guiding principle to deliver superior managerial performance with significant business impact, discover tools to align core processes for operational excellence and understand frameworks to manage risks and opportunities for sustainable supply chain management.

He stressed on the role of IT as the facilitator, enabler or a driving force for design and implementation of supply chain and hoped that the MDP would provide the required understanding of the creation and optimization of supply chains.

Prof Salma Ahmed (Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research) highlighted the necessity of having a harmonious relationship between all components of the supply chain and also spoke about the far-reaching adverse effects of any kinks in the supply chain.

“I am sure that the experience of this MDP will help the participants to make key transitions in their careers”, she added.

Speaking on the objectives of MDP, Prof Jamal Ahmad Farooquie (Chairman, Department of Business Administration) emphasised: The programme provides a mix of theoretical and practical exposure to the operations and supply management in today’s global and highly competitive markets.

The MDP also features talks by Asad Rizvi (Vice-President, Supply Chain Division, Electrical, Electronics and EV, Maruti Suzuki India Limited), Tasmim Saila (Senior Manager, Country Quality, Unilever Bangladesh Limited), Dr Rahul V Altekar (Director, Supply Chain Solutions, SAP India, Mumbai), Deepak Joshi (Chief Officer, Operations, Hamdard, New Delhi), Puneet Sharma (General Manager, Corporate Services, Reliance Industries Limited, Mumbai), Prof Kunal K Ganguly (IIM Kashipur), Dr Raghavendra Rao (ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Bangalore), Dr Nafeez Faizi (Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College-JNMC) and Dr Saleem Mohammad Khan (Department of Community Medicine, JNMC).

Dr Zareen Husain Farooq (Co-organizing Secretary) conducted the inaugural function.

She coordinated the programme with Dr Asif Akhtar (Co-organizing Secretary) attended by over 80 participants.
