Medghnad Desai Academy Onboards NSE’s Chief Economist, Dr Tirthankar Patnaik, as a visiting faculty
Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE), India’s leading postgraduate institute for Economics, Data Analytics for Finance and Public Policy, has onboarded Dr Tirthankar Patnaik, the Chief Economist at the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), as a visiting faculty. He will teach advanced macroeconomics to students under MDAE’s PGD Economics program.
An esteemed economist, Dr Trithankar Patnaik has over 20 years of experience in the Indian capital markets, macro and sector strategy, quantitative finance, and consumer banking. Prior to NSE India, he was the Chief Strategist and Head of Research for India at Japan-based Mizuho Bank. He also served as the India Strategist and Chief Economist at Religare Capital Markets Ltd.

Dr Patnaik started his career as a researcher at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), where he worked on several academic and corporate projects in the field of econometrics and quantitative finance. In his corporate stint, he assisted the Global Consumer Group of Citibank in India and Europe as the Consumer Banking Analyst. He later led the equity strategy for institutional clients under Citigroup Global Markets.
