Medymate App Launched by Medyseva During Awareness Week, Focuses on Student Mental Health with Medymind initiative
Over 2,000 students in Madhya Pradesh benefited from MedyMate’s mental health resources during the pilot phase
New Delhi: In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week, Medyseva, the leading telemedicine and health-tech start-up, proudly announces the launch of the Medymate app, a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing the escalating mental health concerns within India’s vast population. Medymind, the mental health wing of Medymate, is set to play a crucial role in this initiative.
Recent estimates indicate that over 40% of India’s population may be affected by mental health issues. From 2018 to 2022, the National Crime Records Bureau reported 762,648 suicides in India, with student suicides due to academic pressure accounting for 7.6% (59,239 cases). Alarmingly, 41% of all suicides are by young people under the age of 30, making suicide the leading cause of mortality for young women in India. Suicide among the young is a major public health problem in India, with the suicide rate reaching an all-time high of 12.4 per 100,000 people. Medymind’s proactive approach through the Medymate app aims to make a significant impact in mitigating these alarming statistics.
Medymate is designed to serve adolescents aged 14-24, focusing on students from schools, colleges, and coaching institutes. The app ensures access to quality mental healthcare services at an affordable rate, starting at just 1 rupee per day per student, totalling 365 rupees per year. In collaboration with educational institutions, students, and relevant agencies, MedyMind has embarked on a mission to provide accessible and effective mental health support to those in need.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Vishesh Kasliwal, CEO and Founder of Medyseva, expressed profound optimism: “MedyMind is committed to revolutionizing mental health care in India. Our collaboration with students, educational institutions, and other stakeholders underscores our dedication to making mental health support more accessible, efficient, and stigma-free. Medymate not only offers essential healthcare services but also provides additional value to educational institutions. We offer eight free workshops to enhance productivity for both students and institutes. Additionally, we provide a list of 50 workshops for institutes to select from, fostering a healthy and productive environment that promotes academic success.”
During the pilot phase, with the MedyMate app Medymind has emerged as a beacon of hope for individuals grappling with mental health challenges. Over 2,000 students enrolled in coaching institutes in Madhya Pradesh are already benefiting from this ground-breaking platform, utilizing its resources to manage and overcome their mental health struggles. With a team of psychologists addressing various issues, including exam anxiety, bullying, sexual orientation, and drug abuse, MedyMate ensures affordable access to quality healthcare services for all. The app also provides eight free workshops in various domains, including MedyMind, Medyshe, Medydiet, and Medyvision. The MedyMate app thus offers a wide array of features designed to cater to the diverse needs of its users, including confidential consultations with qualified mental health professionals, personalized therapy programs, self-help resources, and community support networks.
Dr. Syed Saquib, Co-founder and leading psychiatrist at MedyMind, emphasized the importance of comprehensive care, stating, “Mental health is multifaceted and needs to be addressed from various angles”. “At MedyMind, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. That’s why we offer affordable solutions without compromising on the quality of service,” said Miss Vijayshree Bajaj, Co-founder and psychologist at MedyMind.
Mr. Aayush Vijayvargiya, Founder, Vidhyoday Coaching Institute, Indore remarked, “We are thrilled to witness the positive impact of MedyMind’s app on our students. It has provided around 1000 students from our institute invaluable support in managing their mental well-being during challenging times”.
As MedyMind prepares to expand its reach beyond Madhya Pradesh and into other regions of India, the organization remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a culture of mental well-being and resilience across the nation. MedyMind’s operational framework is based on a business-to-business (B2B) model, enabling collaboration with educational institutions. The app facilitates nursing and hospitalization support for students who require it, all while focusing on personalized support, community engagement, educational resources, and professional guidance.
As they continue to expand their reach and serve students from different walks of life, Medymate and MedyMind stand out as beacons of hope for students struggling with mental health issues. With their commitment to offering accessible, affordable, and personalized solutions, these initiatives are poised to make a meaningful impact on the mental healthcare landscape in India.
