Meesho Partners with The/Nudge Foundation to Offer Online Vocational Course
New Delhi: Meesho, India’s largest marketplace for longtail products, has partnered with The/Nudge Foundation to offer their online learning program called ‘Future Perfect’, launched last year by The/Nudge Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in response to covid, taking their ‘skilling and employment’ model online. This is aimed at young aspirants who have basic education, to help upskill for better employability and bolster their true potential in career growth.
The Future Perfect program has been designed by the The/Nudge Center for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE) for candidates from underprivileged backgrounds, who are looking at service sector jobs or are planning to sharpen their skill sets with as low an investment as INR 499 for a four-months online course. This will help the Meesho entrepreneurs, primarily from Tier 2 and 3 cities, to make an impact in their network or their own families.
These aspirants need to be between the age group of 18-29 years and possess basic English and communication skills. The course will aid them in accelerating their interpersonal skills, complex problem-solving skills, communication skills, life and learning skills to thrive in the post-pandemic environment. The/Nudge Foundation, through their systematic course design, will also assist the aspirants to land an entry level job in the industry after the completion of this program.
Vidit Aatrey, Founder and CEO of Meesho said, “This partnership comes at an opportune time. Post Covid-19, online upskilling courses have found many takers but very few cater to the growing number of non-skilled or semi-skilled workers. The skill gap among this section of workers is very real. ‘Future Perfect’ will help to equip the next generation of service sector professionals with the relevant skills they need to succeed in their industries and a chance at better living.”
Saurabh Adeeb, Senior Director of The/Nudge Centre for Skilling and Entrepreneurship said, “Reports indicate that more than three million people in India acquired digital skills during Covid-19. Leveraging this digital adoption among youth to foster a skill-based labour market, will be a key driver of economic reset post pandemic. Despite graduation, employability in India is below 46%, owing to lack of skills that contribute to ‘job-readiness’. To move this demographic from an inertia to a dividend, skilling and employability programs need to be geared up. We’re happy to partner with Meesho to bring ‘Future Perfect’ to equip job-seekers with the right skills and resources, connecting them to opportunities.”
The course conducted by The/Nudge Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be hosted on Meesho’s platform as an educational product priced at INR 499 only. The partnership will also open doors for youngsters to job opportunities, with a clear focus on assisting candidates in preparing for job interviews and promoting financial literacy as part of the course curriculum.
