Mega yoga Session; scintillating folk performances, Multilingual Mushiara mark celebrations in Patnitop

 

UDHAMPUR : Directorate of Youth Services & Sports J&K, in collaboration with Divisional Administration Jammu, District Administrations of Udhampur and Ramban, Patnitop Development Authority and J&K Tourism Department Jammu, today organised a mega Yoga session cum Spiritual and wellness discourse here at main meadow of famous Patnitop hill station under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (Saadi Birasat).

World renowned Yoga teacher Prashant Pandey imparted yoga skills to the participants including Men, Women, students and children from different districts of Jammu division.

Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib; Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat-Ul-Islam, Additional District Development Commissioner, Kanta Devi, CEO Sher Singh besides district heads of line departments of twin districts, also participated and performed yoga aasnas on the occasion.

While briefing the participants, the yoga teacher said that one must make yoga part of one’s daily routine as it helps to maintain good physical and mental wellbeing. He enlightened the participants about the benefits of various yoga asanas and emphasized that yoga is an invaluable gift of India to the world which brings harmony, promotes health and helps in stress management by checking anxiety and many lifestyle disorders.

While briefing the media, the DC Udhampur appreciated elaborate arrangements made by different departments for organising the mega event. She added that more mega events will be organized to promote the varied tourism potential and rich heritage of Jammu division.

A multilingual Mushaira was another attraction of the event which witnessed participation of several literary luminaries and Sahitya Akademi award winners. The literary event also marked the beginning of J&K Literary Festival amid the picturesque Patnitop meadows hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) as part of Iconic festival, National fame and budding poets participated in the mushiara and presented their poetic work touching all aspects of life.

The event also witnessed scintillating cultural events like craft competition, Lohri Haar making, Binna making, kite making, Bamboo craft, turban tying, braid making and other contests, besides Folk dance and music performances featuring Bakh, Solo, Kudd, Dogri jagarna, Chajja, Ghazal, Haran, Jattar, Comedy, and Thali Dance. The folk artists drawn from different parts of Jammu division performed at the event. Thali Dance and Kudd were the centre of attraction of the festival, which were highly appreciated by the audiences with repeated rounds of applause.
