Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics hosts its 7th Convocation; felicitates PG Diploma batch of 2021-22
The students who were jointly awarded diploma certificates by MDAE and Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics (GIPE), Pune have already been placed in reputed organisations, including EY, Deloitte, CMIE, Zebpay & Kantar
Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE), India’s leading postgraduate institute for Economic, Data Analytics, Finance, and Public Policy, held its 7th convocation ceremony to felicitate the PG Diploma batch of 2021-22 on 28th August 2022. At the event, students of 1-year PG Diploma in Economics, and Data Science & Finance were jointly conferred by MDAE and Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics (GIPE), Pune.
Lord Meghnad Desai, the Chairman of MDAE, was the chief guest for the occasion. He awarded the post-graduate diploma certificates to students, joined by Dr. Ajit Ranade, Vice Chancellor of GIPE.
The ceremony was hosted at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai. It was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries, faculty from Mumbai’s top colleges, industry experts, leading academicians, and MDAE’s board members Mr. P.D. singh – Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase Bank India, Dr. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha – CEO, Artha India Research Advisors, Mr. Roopank Chaudhary – Partner and Chief Commercial Officer, Human Capital Solutions, India and South Asia at Aon along with the virtual presence of Board Members, Dr Tushar Poddar – MD, Wellington Fund Management, and Dr. Mangal Goswami – Executive Director- South East Asian Central Bank (SEACEN).
Congratulating students on occasion, Lord Meghnad Desai, Chairman at MDAE, said, “In the world where practical education is given great importance, pure theory is also equally important. I am glad this course has equipped students with the great knowledge of both.
This is an utterly difficult and rigorous program and we have to congratulate you for successfully completing this course.”
Dr. Tushar, who addressed the students live from London, over zoom, congratulated students for successfully tackling the challenge of the pandemic and being part of historic times where in years decades are happening. “With India being the fastest growing major economy in the world and rapid digital transformation, businesses and the world need leaders like you, problem solvers and thought leaders who have rigorous economic knowledge along with data analytic skills so, what you have learnt at MDAE have never been more relevant. This is a once in a generation opportunity so I would love to see you go out there and seize it.” He mentioned.
As per the tradition, the ceremony began at 10 am with a lamplighting ceremony by Lord Desai, Dr Ranade and Prof. Amlesh Kanekar.
The students of the current batch have been placed in reputed organisations, including EY, Deloitte, CMIE, Zebpay & Kantar. Since MDAE is considered the perfect foundation for those planning to study in Ivy League institutions, some students are considering pursuing higher education abroad. Many of the institute’s former students are currently studying at Harvard, LSE, Cambridge, Columbia, and other prestigious universities.
