Mental Health Awareness Week observed
ALIGARH : The Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), working under the Department of Community Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, and the Community Health Centre (CHC), Jawan, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, AMU organized a talk and a health camp to mark the “Mental Health Awareness Week”, under the guidance of Prof. Saira Mehnaz, Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine and Dr. Jitendra Kumar.
Dr. Ankit Singh (Medical Officer, CHC, Jawan) inaugurated the programme.
Dr. Shubham Upadhyay (JR2) and Dr. Ameer Ayyub (JR1) highlighted the core theme of the talk and Dr. Shailja Singh (SR) discussed various kinds of mental health disorders, their symptoms and remedies. Dr. Shreya Agrawal spoke on the myth around the mental health issues and highlighted the treatment facilities available at RHTC, CHC and JN Medical College Hospital.
Later, an educational camp for ASHA workers was organized to make them aware of the mental health issues and how to provide support to the patients.
Dr. Shailja Singh upheld the significance of ASHA workers at the grassroots level of health system and briefed them about common mental health illnesses, their symptoms and different treatment facilities available at different centres.
Dr. Absar Ahmad, Dr. Harapriya N., Dr. Shubham Upadhyay, Dr. Adarsh Mohan, Dr. Ajitha, Dr. Chandramouli Mitra, Dr. Mohammad Bilal, Dr. Prabakaran. S, Dr. Ameer Ayyub and Dr. Shreya Agrawal helped conduct the talk and the health camp for ASHA workers.
