Mercedes-Benz Centre Inaugurated at KIIT; First in Eastern India
Bhubaneswar: An Automotive Mechatronics Learning and Research Centre, set-up in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, the largest luxury car maker of India, was inaugurated at KIIT Deemed to be University on 27th August 2019. The Centre was inaugurate by Mr. Martin Schwenk, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India in the presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; Mr. Shekhar Bhide, Vice President, Costumer Services and Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT Deemed to be University.
This is the first and only centre of its type in Eastern India. Inaugurating the Centre, Mr. Schwenk said, advanced diploma course in automotive mechatronics course is one of its initiative to develop skilled manpower for the automotive industry. “We are very much happy to join hands with KIIT Deemed to be University to open this centre. Auto segment is one of the highest contributors to GDP of the nation. As the leaders of Auto Luxury segment, it is incumbent upon us to upskill the youth with technical expertise required in the segment to make them future-ready. Mercedes-Benz India’s unwavering commitment to contribute back to the society has led to the expansion of this course and its success is immensely satisfying”, he stated.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Achyuta Samanta said, Mercedes-Benz is a global icon known for innovation and pioneering technology. Such programmes are vital so that students receive quality education along with world-class training and understanding of cutting-edge technology at par with current industry norms, he added.
Mr. Schwenk visited KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering and talked to the students. The Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) Course will fulfill the requirement for superlative service in the automotive sector. The Mechatronics training center at MBIL produces skilled technicians and provides the network with much needed support. Earlier this year, a MoU was signed between KIIT & Mercedes-Benz to commence the Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics.
Among others, Mr. Jadunath Kulkarni, GM, Mercedes-Benz India, Ms. Chhaya Tiwary, Corporate Communication Manager; and Prof. Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT were present.
