Meritnation registers impressive growth among Premium Users during lockdown; Clocks Four-Fold growth in Live Class Usage
New Delhi: With the disruption caused owing to the sudden emergence of Covid-19, the education system has completely transformed from offline to online. Riding on the growth of the EdTech sector, Indian Edtech major Meritnation, a subsidiary of test preparation leader Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), has recorded an impressive growth in terms of paid users during the lockdown. Meritnation has registered a Four-Fold growth in minutes of Live Classes attended by premium users in October and November 2020 alone. Nearly four-fold growth was recorded in Live Class usage by students in Science and Mathematics.
The increase in percentage is calculated by comparing the recent monthly usage of Live Classes by premium users to their usage in the beginning of the lockdown. As per the data available, nearly 300% growth has been registered by students from Grade X and nearly 400% growth in students from Grade XI (Science) who have enrolled onto the Premium Live Class platform of Meritnation to study during Covid-19.
Students studying in Grade VI-IX have also registered nearly three-fold growth which is equivalent to 200% during the pandemic. On an average it has been recorded that a premium user studied for approximately 70 minutes every day on Meritnation.
Commenting on the impressive growth, Mr Narasimha Jayakumar, CEO, Aakash Edutech Pvt. Ltd. said, “Online learning has become the new normal with the emergence of Covid-19 since March 2020. To seamlessly continue with the studying process, students in large percentages are adopting the virtual learning mode and will continue to do so in the post Covid era as well. The increase in the number of students studying on the Meritnation platform clearly reflects the acceptance of our teaching, faculty and curriculum. We will continue to customize our courses according to the requirements of the students in the near future in order to enable them to study from the comfort of their homes.”
