Michael Pecho appointed Vice-Rector of Alumni and Philanthropic Relations

Michael Pecho is currently Executive Director, Primary Gifts, University Advancement of McGill University, where he has played a key role in the “Made by McGill: the Campaign for Our Third Century” campaign. He has been working in philanthropy for some twenty years and has occupied senior positions with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the INRS Foundation and The Neuro (the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital).

Rector Daniel Jutras welcomed the strategic appointment: “In addition to his impressive track record in philanthropy, Michael Pecho has deep knowledge of academia and the health sector, as well as first-rate international experience. He is known for his energy and strategic vision. I am confident that he will be able to cultivate a true philanthropic culture at our university.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleague Raymond Lalande from the bottom of my heart for generously agreeing to extend his term as Vice-Rector while we recruited a successor,” Rector Jutras added.

Michael Pecho graduated from Université de Montréal with a degree in law. He began his fundraising career with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), for which he worked both in Senegal and at the UN headquarters in New York. His five-year term begins on January 18, 2021.
