ALIGARH March 2: The Centre of Agricultural Education, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University conducted an awareness programme on “Introduction of Millets in Hostel Mess and Cafeteria” in order to observe the “International Year of Millet-2023”.

Welcoming the guests, Coordinator of the centre, Prof. Iqbal Ahmad highlighted the importance and need for including Millet in daily meals in AMU hostels.

Dr Shams Tabrez Khan (Officiating Provost, Mohammad Habib Hall) discussed the millet-based food varieties, while Dr Nazia Tabassum (Post Harvest Engineering & Technology) elaborated on the topic and highlighted the benefits of using millet in daily food. She discussed the variety of millet grains, nutritional benefits and cost efficacy in introducing millets in the hostel mess and canteen.

Organizing Secretary, Dr Faheem Ahamad said that an open discussion was conducted to spread awareness about millet, in which faculty members and students participated in a large number.

The winners of a Training Programme on “Millet Based Tiffin Recipes” were also given prizes in celebration of Millet Year-2023, said the Co-organizing Secretary, Dr Zeba Khan.

Dr Zeba Khan extended a vote of thanks.
