Minister emphasis on improving education sector with World Bank funded project

Shimla: A video conferencing was held here from today with the World Bank under the chairmanship of Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj to discuss about strengthening of quality education and infrastructure in the state.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that the state government was committed to provide quality education to the youth and strengthening the infrastructural facilities in the educational institutions. He said various schemes have been started in the field of education sector and Himachal Pradesh was fast emerging as education hub of the country.

The Minister said that the World Bank has always played a pivotal role in the development of Himachal Pradesh and he was hopeful that new milestones would be set up in the education sector with the assistance of the Bank. He directed to constitute a team in the education department to prepare project proposal and coordinate with the World Bank.

President of the State Higher Education Council Dr. Sunil Kumar Gupta apprised the World Bank representatives about the specific conditions and requirements of the state.

The World Bank representative Curt Larson while interacting from New York said that the World Bank approves projects under various components and the project proposals should be as per the circumstances, demands and requirements of the specific state.
