Minister of Education congratulates JMI’s Prof Imran Ali for getting a place in Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) 2020 list
New Delhi: Education Minister of India Shri Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today congratulated Prof. Imran Ali, Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI), on his securing a place in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers(HCR) 2020 list released by the USA’s Web of Science, Clarivate Plc.
Praising Prof. Ali’s achievement Hon’ble Minister tweeted, “Congratulations to Prof. Imran Ali of JMI for securing a place in the coveted list of Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) 2020 released by the USA’s Web of Science, Clarivate Plc. I wish him good luck for his future endeavours.”
Hon’ble Minister also praised Prof. Ali’s recent achievement of being adjudged as the number one scientist in India and 24th in the World in the field of Analytical Chemistry by the University of Stanford, USA.
JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar thanked the Hon’ble Minister for his encouraging
words. She said “You are a source of inspiration for me, our teachers and other staff members to work hard consistently. We continue to look for your constructive and inspiring views.”
HCR 2020 identifies researchers who “demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.” Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index, according to Clarivate Plc.
Prof. Imran Ali has high Google citations of 25,500, 82 h-index and 260 i10-index. His primary research goals are multidisciplinary with the main emphasis on Environmental, Analytical, Organic and Water Chemistry. His specific research includes water treatment, water quality, development of anti-cancer and chiral drugs, pharmaceutical and xenobiotics analysis by chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. He is the pioneer to highlight the importance of the chirality concept in the pollutants i.e. study of the chiral pollutants.
