Minister Shri Arif Aqueel to inaugurate “GEM Dialogue” programme
Bhopal : Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Arif Aqueel said at the inaugural session of “G.E.M. Dialogue” programme that the MSME units will be given priority in government procurement, which will increase both their business and employment. He told that business worth Rs 864 crore has been done from 3,736 MSME units of Madhya Pradesh on the G.E.M. portal. MSME units are providing maximum employment in the country.
Minister Shri Aqeel said that there is a provision for selection of purchases from units of MSME on this portal and they are also given exemption in EMD. With the facility provided to MSME units on the G.E.M. portal, they can make their product available for government procurement across the country.
During the programme, Minister Shri Aqueel honoured an officer of Urban Development Department as an incentive for making maximum purchases from G.E.M. It was informed on the occasion that even at the district or tehsil level, any government department can easily procure goods and services as per their requirements by knowing the specifications and rates of the products manufactured in the entire country through the G.E.M. portal. Government departments are provided with the desired materials or services through the G.E.M. portal easily, at the right time and at the right rates. For the convenience of government consumers, e-tender, reverse e-auction and online purchase facility are available on the portal with direct purchase.
The portal aims to bring transparency, efficiency and speed up public procurement of the government. Under the MoU, the government departments of the state are procuring through government-e-marketplace, New Delhi. For government procurement by the central government, the government-e-marketplace portal has been started by ending D.G.S. & D.
Government-e-marketplace and micro, small and medium industries organized a “G.E.M.-Samvad” programme for buyers and sellers of the state. Principal Secretary Shri Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Executive Officer of G.E.M. New Delhi Shri Prakash Mirani, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Shri Y.K. Pathak, Managing Director of Laghu Udyog Nigam Shri Pankaj Jain took part in the programme.
In the first session of the programme, information about the G.E.M. portal was sought from the invited senior buyer officials of the state and central government and guidance was given to solve the problems. In the second session, information was given about the suggestions related to G.E.M. portal from the major invited vendors / manufacturers / service providers of the state and guidance was given to solve their problems.
