It should be noted that the government has recently taken steps to cut compliance costs by simplifying, eliminating, and decriminalizing a number of regulations. This forward-thinking move will have a revolutionary and multiplying effect on the ease of doing business. In line with the same spirit, AICTE has also re-engineered the system of approval by adopting the principle of “Light but tight” regulations. Accordingly, Grant of approval to technical institutes is based on self-disclosure of information by the institute. The Technical Education Regulatory charges/ processing fees is also being handled in digital mode only.

It is noteworthy that University Grant commission (UGC) has developed Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) user interface to enable learners and teachers across the country to access curricula of NCERT, CBSE and SCERTs online. 1.85 lakh pieces of e-content has been on-boarded and there has been high traffic on portal (~2,400 crore hits since lockdown) thus showcasing its increased usage. Training of teachers has been enabled online on DIKSHA wherein approximately 25 lakh teachers have been benefitted across India.

Incorporation of the social media tools has become an effective medium in governance to understand & assess the new expectations, needs as well as shortcomings, if any, and effectively address, resolve and / or implement them to the extent possible & feasible within the shortest possible time.
