Ministry of Information and Broadcasting honoured “Salaam Namaste ‘’(IMS Noida ) Awarded for radio program “Art Manthan”
Noida: Community Radio Salaam Namaste of the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) Noida bagged the National Award for its initiative “Art Manthan” for promoting Indian Art and culture, empowering artisans and art enthusiasts, and mobilising the Young generation to promote Indian Culture and Heritage. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Shri Anurag Thakur gave this honour to Salaam Namaste during the two-day regional conference held at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi. Barsha Chhabaria, station head of Salaam Namaste, received this honour on behalf of the institute.
Dr. Kulneet Suri, Senior Director, IMS Noida, said that Salam Namaste got the third prize for promoting local culture in this programme organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Salaam Namaste made its place in the 8th Community Radio Stations Awards organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. At the same time, four community radio stations in Uttar Pradesh got awards in the programme organised by the ministry.
Furthermore, she added that Salaam Namaste has been working continuously since 2008, keeping social interests in mind. The Art Manthan programme aims to popularise Indian art by bringing together artists and artisans from the community. To popularise the programme, Radio took the initiative to organise workshops and exhibitions at various places. Artists and artisans in the community were also invited to participate in the event.
