Ministry of Power studies recruitment process of DISCOMs

The Ministry of Power, GoI has taken a comprehensive study of the organizational structure and recruitment process of DISCOMs to improve overall efficiency and enhance consumer satisfaction.

The study involved reaching out to more than 60 DISCOMs across the country and analyzing data on technical, financial, commercial, infrastructure and manpower efficiency related parameters.

The report provides successful examples of implementation of best practices in various DISCOMs to instill confidence in those that want to follow successful role models.

DISCOMs have been classified based on various aspects including consumer category, mix of consumers in urban and rural areas, and terrain.

The recommended organizational structure consists of a hierarchical framework with various verticals.

Successful implementation of recommendations will help in strengthening the DISCOMs organisationally and will enable them to proactively handle changing sector dynamics.
