Ministry of Science & Technology’s Advisory & Monitoring Committee Meeting held at LPU
Jalandhar: Department of Science & Technology from Ministry of Science & Technology (Govt of India) inaugurated its two-day ‘Programme Advisory & Monitoring Committee (PAMC) meeting on individual research proposals at Lovely Professional University (LPU) today. On this occasion, 42 Scientists from IITs, NITs, IIITs, top Central and State Universities from across the country presented their methodical research proposals. Seven-Member PAMC (Programme Advisory & Monitoring Committee) meeting has been constituted for the final evaluation of new individual proposals. Research proposals are categorized under 4 themes of Cyber Physical Systems; Data Science, Internet of Things; and, Cyber Security.
The inaugural day was chaired by national scientist Dr Rajeev Sharma from Department of Science & Technology (Govt of India); whereas, Vice-Chancellor Central University of Rajasthan Prof Arun K Pujari will head the second day ‘Meeting’. LPU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ramesh Kanwar, Senior Dean Dr Lovi Raj Gupta and Head Division of Research & Development Prof Dr G Geetha welcomed the intelligentsia from across the country.
Greeting all, LPU VC Dr Kanwar shared that LPU always keeps on research endeavours so that maximum number of scientists emerge from LPU and the country to solve out all problems being faced by the global society. Hinting that in the developed countries maximum budget is certained for scientific and top research activities, Dr Kanwar desired suitable funding not only from the government bodies but from top and rising non-educational agencies also. In this regard, he specially mentioned the names of Tesla Motors and many others, which are not from the fields of education.
In fact, DST (Govt of India) has recently launched a new programme “Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (ICPS)” to foster and promote Research & Development in this emerging field of research. A Cyber Physical System (CPS) are physical and engineered systems, operations of which are monitored, coordinated, controlled and integrated by a computing and communication core. In general, Cyber means computation, communication and control that are discrete and logical. Physical means natural and human-made systems governed by the laws of physics and operating in continuous time. Thus, computing and communication systems bridging with the physical world are referred as Cyber Physical Systems.
Dr. Tanmoy Som from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Banaras Hindu University, Dr Faiz Hamid of IIT Kanpur, Dr Rajiv Misra IIT Patna, Dr Nishtha Kesswani of Central University of Rajasthan, Dr Aruna Tiwari from IIT Indore and all other scientists, who are participating at the meeting, thanked both DST and LPU, whose collaborative endeavour has enabled and inspired them to carry on with their prestigious projects.
