MIT School of Engineering Announces Third Quarter 2023 Awards
Faculty and researchers across MIT’s School of Engineering receive many awards in recognition of their scholarship, service, and overall excellence. The School of Engineering periodically recognizes their achievements by highlighting the honors, prizes, and medals won by faculty and research scientists working in our academic departments, labs, and centers.
- Jacopo Buongiorno in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering was selected as a 2023 NURETH Fellow on Aug. 1.
- Joel Emer in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 2023 B. Ramakrishna Rau Award on Sept. 25.
- James Fujimoto in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 2023 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award on Sept. 26.
- Leonid A. Mirny in the Institute for Medical Science and Engineering was named a 2023 Simons Investigator on Aug. 28.
- Dava Newman in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics received an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal College of Art, London, U.K. on Sept. 13.
- Greg Stephanopoulos in the Department of Chemical Engineering received the James E. Bailey Award on Sept. 27.
- Gerald Sussman in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the IEEE Major Education Innovation Award on July 19.
- Vinod Vaikuntanathan in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 2023 International Association of Cryptologic Research Test-of-Time Award on Aug. 8.
- Bilge Yildiz in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering was selected as a 2023 Fellow of the Electrochemical Society on Aug. 1 and was elected to the Austrian Academy of Sciences on May 1.
- Sidney Yip in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering received the Monie A. Ferst Award on Sept. 29.
