MM Hall Provost appeals for peace
Aligarh : Prof Mohd Ali Jauhar, Provost, Mohsinul Mulk (MM) Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) issued an appeal to all students to maintain peace in the campus and stated that the top priority is to protect the academic interest of the students and diffusing acts of violence.
“There may be problems, clashes or dissatisfaction on a number of issues but all these matters can be resolved affably”, he said.
Prof Jauhar called the MM Hall resident students to be careful of the rich AMU culture inherited from the great university founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
“The outstanding teachers and distinguished Old Boys have guided generations of AMU students to reach the zenith in academics after Sir Syed and his associates laid the university foundation. Let us not forget that AMU has earned great reputation across the globe not only for academic achievements but also for distinct traditions and culture”, he pointed out.
Prof Jauhar stressed: “AMU culture has given the students and teachers a sense of belonging and also brought together students from various religious, ethnic, regional and linguistic backgrounds. Our culture enables us to showcase the principles of our founding father, Sir Syed; celebrate diversity and unite as a Country. This university is also an avenue for creating lasting memories for meaningful reflections later in life”.
“AMU’s tradition tells us that peace is a useful overarching measure of progress and we are proud to have bricks of composite culture in the foundations of our institution. We must always remember that AMU as one of the largest residential universities of the country with a unique composite culture has been producing students who love to learn from each other, imbibe good things from the personality traits of fellow students from varied backgrounds. It is therefore imperative that we don’t belittle the beautiful traditions and culture of the university with minor differences”, he emphasised.
