Modern Public School staff extends Rs 4 lakh for PM CARES Fund
New Delhi: Looking at the problems being faced due to Coronavirus pandemic, the Principal and the staff of Modern Public School Shalimar Bagh decided to extend a helping hand to the government. The school raised an amount of around Rs 4 lakh and the same has been given to the PM CARES Fund. All the staff members, including the teachers, donated one day salary and Alka Kapur, Principal, Modern Public School (Shalimar Bagh) donated Rs.2 Lakh from her own savings.
“It is our humble contribution towards the fight with Corona crisis. As teachers, we have to set an example so that every countryman should think of doing their bit towards this fight. It is high time that we have to stand for each other and with each other,” says Alka Kapur, Principal, Modern Public School (Shalimar Bagh).
“Every person around the world, who is doing their part in helping those in need during these trying times, deserves our utmost respect. Together, by joining hands against the menace of COVID-19, we can save the world,” further added by Alka Kapur.
MPS is known for proactively participating society-building programmes besides setting quality benchmarks in the education sector. The Roti Bank programme of MPS under its CSR mission to alleviating poverty has been running successfully for a long time. Through this initiative, all members of staff and students of MPS bring some extra food and distribute it among the needy students. This successful programme of MPS has also been adopted by many other schools also in Delhi NCR.
Lately, the school has also extended help to victims of riots in north-east Delhi with food and medicines, and a few months back, the school also organised a “Heritage Walk” in Delhi for the visually-impaired people in association with Rising Star Tours and Travels. The excursion covered the epoch of Mughal Dynasty to the wars of Independence. The students and visually-impaired people explored the streets of Chandni Chowk, Shajanabad, Lal Quila, and Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib.
