Admin to go tough on defaulter contractors; 100% quality work desired from engineers: DC
DODA : District Development Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan today reviewed the performance of PWD (R&B) regarding the execution of works taken up under Capex Budget 2022-23, NABARD, CRF and Languishing Projects.
Chairing a meeting of key officials of the department held in the Conference Hall of DC office, the DDC directed the Engineers to complete the formalities for the construction of modern Youth Innovation Centre at Ghat. The Department shall immediately get the proposed project technically vetted so that the required funds can be obtained from the government, he directed.
The meeting was attended by SE(PWD), CPO Doda, ACP Doda, ACD Doda , All XENs of District, AEEs and AEs of the departments.
The DDC asked SE and Ex Ens to personally monitor the quality of the work on the ground. The meeting decided to recommend non-feasible works for foreclosure and process the related funds for reallocation.
The DDC directed the concerned to ensure 75% physical and financial completion of the works under all schemes by or before the end of December.
Asking the department to complete cement work before 31th of December, the DDC also discussed the bottlenecks hampering the progress on some of the roads and other projects in detail. He directed the Ex Ens to take up the matter with ADCs/ SDMs, and other concerned officers for early resolution of the issues and timely completion of the works.
The DDC also enquired about the status of each project in detail with regard to tendering of works, works allotted, estimation of approved works, start of works on the ground, status of billing and progress on non construction works.
The DDC directed all the concerned controlling as well executing agencies to pace up the completion of all ongoing works.
Further, the DDC directed them to mobilise the staff to clear pending bills and update the Account Books.
“The department shall also ensure that no work is held up or delayed beyond its allotted time of completion by any contractor. And take toughest decisions to the extent of blacklisting the defaulter contractors,” he directed. It was also decided that a contractor declared defaulter by one agency shall be defaulter for all the executing agencies in the district.
