Mohali to be beautified under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement scheme with grant of Rs. 20 crore: Balbir Singh Sidhu
New Delhi: The city of Mohali is fast emerging as a developmental hub of the State and to accelerate this pace further, various development centric projects are in the process of being undertaken. This was disclosed by the Health and Family Welfare, Labour Minister, Punjab, and Mohali MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu while chairing a meeting here late Tuesday evening to take stock of the various projects with regard to the city.
He divulged that the Municipal Corporation has given tenders worth Rs. 4 crore 72 lakhs for the beautification of the various markets such as Phase-3b2, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11. Divulging more details, he said that the process of works with regard to the beautification of market phase-1, 2, 6, Sector-70 and 71 would also be initiated soon.
Coming to other projects, he added that under the Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Programme scheme, a sum of Rs. 20 crore has been ordered to be released which would also be spent on carrying out development oriented projects in the city. Furthermore, the works regarding the maintenance of the christian graveyard and the muslim kabristan in adjoining existing shamshan ghat in industrial area, Phase-7 would be undertaken soon at a cost of Rs. 10.36 lakhs and the cremation ground in the industrial area , Phase-7 would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 49 lakh. Besides, the construction of boundary wall in the muslim graveyard in sector-57 is also in the pipeline which would incur the cost of Rs. 9.79 lakhs.
Among others present included the Poloitical Secretary to the Minister—Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Senior deputy Mayor Rishav Jain, Kuljit Singh Bedi, Narain Singh Sidhu, Amrik Singh Somal, Jasbir Singh Mankoo, Jaspreet Kaur, Surinder Singh Rajput, Nachhattar Singh, Raj Rani Ex MC, Advocate Narpinder Singh Rangi, and Kanwarjot Singh Raja.
