Monash and India’s Amity University sign MOU on further collaboration

Monash University and India’s Amity University signed a Memorandum of Understanding this week to establish a framework for the universities to explore new opportunities to collaborate across education and research.

Amity is a valued education partner for Monash, and the two universities already have several articulation and credit transfer agreements in place that allow Amity students to complete part of their bachelor degrees at Monash. These agreements cover courses in the Faculty of Engineering, the Monash Business School, the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

The MOU was signed as part of a visit by an Amity delegation to Monash, led by Group Vice-Chancellor Amity Universities and Director General of Amity Group Professor Gurinder Singh.

“Amity and Monash share a dedication to promoting global education and research opportunities for our students,” Monash Acting Provost and Senior Vice-President Professor Sharon Pickering said.

“This new framework will further deepen our connections with Amity and India, facilitating the creation of more opportunities for students from both universities to build the cultural competencies and global networks necessary to work and collaborate successfully across international boundaries,” she said.

Monash has a long history of engagement and collaboration in India. Since 2008 Monash has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay at the IITB-Monash Research Academy, providing joint PhD training in partnership with industry and government. Monash also has partnerships with several other institutions in India, including Tata Institute of Social Sciences, O.P. Jindal Global University, Vellore Institute of Technology, Ashoka University and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).
