Monash continues to excel in latest university rankings
Monash University has achieved its best-ever result in the prestigious US News and World Report (USNWR) 2022-23 Best Global Universities Rankings, rising three places to equal 37th in the world.
This performance, out of the 2,000 institutions ranked globally, demonstrates the ongoing strength of Monash University’s global academic research and reputation. The University is ranked equal 4th in Australia, retaining its position from the previous year.
Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said Monash had improved more than 30 places since 2018, and ranked in the top 50 for the third consecutive year.
“This outstanding result recognises the extraordinary breadth and depth of Monash’s global education and research excellence, and the dedication and high calibre of our academic staff,” Professor Gardner said.
For the second year in a row, Monash achieved a ranking in all 47 subject areas covered by USNWR. The University’s highest globally-ranked subjects included 3rd in Pharmacology and Toxicology, 7th in Education and Educational Research, 16th in Polymer Science, and 17th in Economic and Business.

Monash now ranks within the top 100 in all THE-ranked subject areas, with five ranked in the top 50.
