Monash continues to welcome our students from China
We understand the recent announcement by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) has raised questions for many students who were planning to remain in China for the first half of this year and study online.
We have worked swiftly to secure additional accommodation for our students with our external partners. For those students who have less than six months of study and are unable to return to Australia based on unavailability of accommodation at Monash Residential Services (MRS) and are unlikely to be eligible for a standard 12 month lease, we will provide suitable documentation for CSCSE. We are communicating targeted information directly with our affected students.
Fully-activated campuses
We’ve fully activated our campus and safely welcomed students back to face-to-face learning (as soon as restrictions made it possible to do so).
The full Monash University experience extends beyond study. We’ve developed a campus experience like no other, inviting students to connect with their peers, feel safe and supported to be themselves, and be excited for the opportunities ahead. Last year more than 113,000 people attended major campus events and we’re anticipating Monash’s O-Week celebrations to be bigger than ever.
Students will have the opportunity to get to know Victoria, Melbourne and Monash through a dedicated series of welcome events where they can tour iconic Victorian landmarks, and make connections with fellow students.
Alongside face-to-face classes, international students can access opportunities aligned with industry and innovation, and gain help finding employment through Career Connect and Monash Talent. Recent government announcements, such as the extension of the post-study work visa, create further opportunities for our on-shore international students.
“International students are an important part of the Monash community. Not only do they provide a global perspective to our entire student experience, they add vitality to our campuses, and to the broader Victorian community. We welcome China’s decision to encourage students to return to Australia, and look forward to welcoming them, ” says Professor Sharon Pickering, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
