Monash University appoints Mr Doron Ben-Meir as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Engagement) and Senior Vice-President

Monash University is delighted to announce that after an extensive national search process, Mr Doron Ben-Meir has been appointed Monash University’s next Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Engagement) and Senior Vice-President.

Mr Ben-Meir has held a range of senior executive roles focused on enterprise, innovation, venture capital and commercialisation, working across a range of sectors including higher education, government and private industry.

He has personally founded six companies – each focused on the commercialisation of new technology – and has further led and facilitated the creation of several new ventures in partnership with global corporations and institutions. He was the founder and CEO of Prescient Venture Capital, and is currently the Managing Director of Superb Solutions Pty Ltd, which provides strategic consulting and advisory services to the venture capital, start-up and research sectors.

In his most recent senior executive role, Mr Ben-Meir was the inaugural Vice-President, Enterprise, at the University of Melbourne, responsible for establishing and delivering the enterprise mission and strategy, diversifying and increasing funding sources, facilitating cultural transformation and the effective translation of intellectual property into beneficial products and services.

Some of his achievements included: founding BioCurate Pty Ltd as a joint venture with Monash University to support the translation of biopharmaceutical research; the establishment of seed funding (and down-stream venture capital) mechanisms for start-up and spin out opportunities and the introduction of data analytics initiatives focused on visibility and productivity across the research and business development portfolios.

Mr Ben-Meir’s diverse experience, record of engagement with industry and government, demonstrated collaboration and influencing skills, combined with his ability to successfully implement strategic initiatives and generate commercial outcomes will provide a unique foundation to drive the University’s Enterprise initiatives in his role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Engagement) and Senior Vice-President.

Mr Ben-Meir will commence in the role on Monday 24 January 2022.
