Monash University: Monash ranks 57th in QS World University Rankings 2023

Monash University has climbed one place to rank 57th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2023, following the University’s number one ranking for Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS World University Rankings by Subject announced in April 2022.

The University has also been awarded the QS Recognition of Internationalisation on account of its global impact and connections, after achieving perfect scores for both International Students and International Faculty for the third consecutive year.

In addition, Citations per Faculty soared 11 places to rank Monash in the top eight per cent of universities assessed for this indicator.

This year’s rankings assessed 1422 universities, an increase of 122 compared to the 2022 edition. This is the fifth year in a row that Monash has placed in the top 60.

Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said Monash’s improved ranking, together with receiving the QS Recognition of Internationalisation, was an important achievement in what has been a difficult global climate.

“The COVID-19 pandemic created a challenging set of circumstances for universities, particularly in Australia where we experienced closed international borders for a long period of time,” Professor Gardner said.

“We are pleased to have maintained a consistent result in this important global ranking, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff who continue to provide high-quality education and innovative research to communities around the world.

“The QS Recognition of Internationalisation award also acknowledges Monash as a truly global university, with our international campuses in Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Mumbai, as well as a centre in Italy, growing international networks, and the immense work Monash undertook throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to support our international students.”
