Ahmedabad: With an aim of providing training and nurturing qualified talent in the education space, Waymade college of education, an institute based in Vallabh Vidyanagar, has been offering B. Ed and M. Ed (English medium) programs. The institute, affiliated with Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) University, recently organised its annual placement ceremony for their final year students which witnessed interest from around 35 schools participating (a few in person and a few virtually) and recruited shortlisted teachers.
On this occasion, the Institute also signed MoUs with around 20 English medium schools from various parts of Gujarat to nurture the wanna-be educators. With an intent of targeting and benefitting most of them during this global pandemic, not just regular final year students but the alumni were also invited to appear for the placement process. The schools recruited the teachers for various positions like Principal, Coordinator, Post Graduate Teacher, Trained Graduate Teacher, and Primary Teacher. They were recruited with a decent package ranging from Rs. 1,80,000/- to 9,00,000/- lacs per annum for various positions. Appointment and Job Offer letters to the selected candidates were provided on the same day.
Speaking on this occasion, Shri Mehulbhai Patel, the member, Governing body, CVM University said, “Charutar Vidya Mandal University is committed to quality education, students, parents, society, state, and nation. This event is the output of the harmonious mix of our vision and commitment with the national education policy 2020.”
“Looking to the needs of the society and the NEP 2020, this was an initiative to acknowledge that realistic and practical goals of NEP are just a step ahead, awaiting our initiative.”, he added further.
Dr. Avdhesh Jha, Dean, Faculty of Education, CVM University and Principal, Waymade College of Education said, under the able leadership of our leaders, focussing only on quality education, we shall do the needful best to satisfy the needs of the society with the best teachers having love, care, dedication, and devotion. Even in this time of the pandemic, the efforts that we placed in education paid with the best placement of our students as well the association with the topmost schools of the state.
The schools, mainly from districts of Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Kheda, Anand, and a few from other parts of Gujarat participated in the placement ceremony. This connotes the reachability of the institution across Gujarat and thus the idea of the NEP to expand our horizons.
This event, the MoUs and the efforts are likely to solve many purposes while strengthening our partnership. Whereas this event satisfies the aspirations of the job aspirants even in this time of corona and shows the status and importance of education and teachers, on the other hand, it connotes the societal inclination towards education. With the idea of No compromise with quality education that promotes and adds to this event, this event emerges as a consequence of NEP 2020. Such events help the school have better leadership and education along with the job satisfaction of the teachers. Needless to say, it adds to the strength of our alumni and turns our strength.
About Waymade College of Education:
With increased mobility of people and resources, English has become an essential medium of communication not only in the international arena but also within India. English, today, is a medium of upward social mobility. Further, Indians already have a legacy of the language of over 200 years. This gives India an edge over many other countries in the world. In this era of immaterial economy, when the service sector reigns supreme, Indian academicians, the service sector, and all the knowledge-workers can make most of their knowledge of English and help India scale economic and cultural heights. With over 1,000 English medium schools in the State of Gujarat itself and many more in the offing, there is an increased and increasing demand for teachers who can teach the various subjects at school in English.
The Founders and Visionaries of this seat of learning called Vallabh Vidyanagar firmly believed education to be an effective means of societal reconstruction. Hence all the efforts of the leaders, past as well as the present, reflect this perspective. Since teacher performance is the most crucial input in the field of education, the Charutar Vidya Mandal established this college to prepare teachers who can teach effectively through English Medium. Originally known as CVM College of Education was renamed as Waymade College of Education in January 2005, following a goodwill gesture of donors, Shri Vijaybhai Patel and Shri Bhikhubhai Patel. The institute offers programs like B. Ed, M. Ed (English), and M. Phil (Education).
About CVM University:
The inception of Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) took place on the eve of Independence when the illuminating vision of great Sardar Patel was received with incredible enthusiasm by Shri Bhaikaka and Shri Bhikhabhai Saheb. They dedicated their lives to the cause of rural regeneration by establishing Gramodyog and by bringing higher education to the doorstep of the village community.
On March 03, 1945, they sat down to draw up a plan of an educational township – a Vidyanagar – which was later christened as Vallabh Vidyanagar in the form of a tribute to the great son of the soil, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was not only the first planned university township of independent India but also a comprehensive hub of higher education that provided schools and colleges of all major academic disciplines and had elaborate plans for hostels, faculty quarters, playgrounds, and parks. It was a dream scheme in the real sense of the term.
Er. Shri Bhikhubhai Patel is the present chairman of Charutar Vidya Mandal. Under his energetic leadership, Charutar Vidya Mandal has established CVM University last year.
