MoRTH Webinar on Bridge and Structural Engineering stresses upon need for meticulous safety planning
New Delhi: Considering the importance of Bridges and structures in Highways development, and to spread awareness about their safety aspects, ING-IAIAB is organizing a series of Webinars during the National Road Safety Month. The Indian National Group of International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (ING- IABSE) is engaged in dissemination of knowledge in bridge planning, design, construction & maintenance.
Addressing the webinar held here today, Chairman ING-IABSE and Director General (Road Development) & Special Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways Shri I. K. Pandey highlighted the need of safety in the planning, design, construction and operation stages of bridge and structures in India.
During the webinar, speaker from AFCONS presented a case study highlighting the safety aspects during the design and safety provisions adopted during rehabilitation and replacement of superstructure of existing MG Setu at Patna, Bihar. The expert panelists in the ING-IABSE webinars, are speakers of international and national repute with vast experience in design, construction and maintenance of long bridges such as cable stayed or extra- dosed bridges.
The webinar was attended by more than 150 Engineers from Central Government Departments, various State PWDs, and Professionals from private organisations of consultants and contractors.
Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is observing National Road Safety Month from 18th January to 17th February 2021 to spread awareness on road safety in the country.
