MRG School hosted Collection Camp with NGO Goonj to sensitize students
The Joy of Giving Collection Camp will make the students responsible towards community with values of gratitude and humility
New Delhi: MRG School, the premier K-12 school in Rohini based on the value based education of The Shri Ram School, in collaboration with Shri Educare hosted a collection camp with NGO Goonj. The collection camp was hosted on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to raise awareness among children and motivate them to be responsible citizens imbibing the values of gratitude and humility. The school has always been a part of social initiatives/charities for community development.
The Joy of Giving – drive-in collection camp organized in the school premises under the aegis of Goonj Foundation was a two day physical event, wherein students from higher classes along with their parents were invited to donate their belongings for the underprivileged children associated with Goonj. The Joy of Giving event at MRG School was also graced by the presence of an honorable member from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights- Ms. Pragna Parande, a robust activist. She has been an advocate in the Supreme Court of India with 30 years of experience in the legal field. She has also served as Member, Board of Governors in the Indian Council for Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India.
The school also planned a host of co-curricular activities on the theme of Gandhi Jayanti for the junior classes which were conducted online, looking at the safety of students. Badge making, Poster Art & Digital poster making. The students participated enthusiastically and displayed their piece of work which was shared on social media handles of the institution. Mrs. Anshu Mital, Principal, MRG School, Rohini elaborated on importance of helping others and said the act of helping makes us happier and healthier. giving provides an intrinsic reward that is far more valuable than the gift we receive. It also connects us to others, creating a stronger community and a healthy society. ”
Goonj, a non-governmental organization headquartered in New Delhi, India has embarked on disaster relief, humanitarian aid and community growth in parts of 23 states across India. The stakeholders, children and staff members of the school came forward and donated generously for this noble cause in the form of old clothes, stationary, dry food items, etc.
