MSK Kishtwar celebrates National Safe Motherhood Day at AWC Wazgowari

Kishtwar: On the direction of District Development Commissioner, Ashok Sharma and under the overall supervision of District Programme Officer Pawan Parihar, District level Centre For Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kishtwar celebrated National Safe Motherhood Day here at AWC Wazgowari.
While speaking on the occasion, the MSK team said that The National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on April 11 every year.
The aim of observing this day is to raise awareness to achieve the target of reducing the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100000 live births. It is celebrated to raise awareness about adequate access to care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal services.
MSK team also sensitised the participants about the government initiatives which ensure safe motherhood for women. Initiatives like JSY, JSSK, PMMVY ensures that every woman who is pregnant becomes eligible to deliver child in public health institutions for free of cost which also includes cesarean births.
The day also calls for the prevention of child marriages because it may be an indirect cause of maternal deaths.
