MSK Kishtwar hosts awareness programme on Menstural Hygiene, Sanitation
Kishtwar: On the direction of District Programme Officer ICDS, Pawan Parihar, District level Centre For Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra Kishtwar today organised an Awareness Programme on the theme ‘Menstural Hygiene and Sanitation, here at AWC Malik Mohalla.
Programme was attended by AWW’s, Anganwadi Helpers besides others participants. Sanitary pads were also distributed to BPL category women.
While addressing the participants, the MSK team said that Hygiene practices of women during menstruation are of great importance as it has health impacts in terms of increased vulnerability to reproductive tract infection. Proper menstrual hygiene, correct perception and belief protect womenfolk from this suffering and play an important role in empowering women and adolescent girls worldwide to become all that they can be.
They further said that Awareness needs to be raised not only on maintaining hygiene, but also on the availability of sustainable alternatives such as biodegradable sanitary pads and menstrual cups as they are beneficial to both women’s health and the environment and supports their ability to manage their menstruation with dignity.
