MSK Poonch spreads awareness regarding Menstrual Hygiene
Poonch: With an aim to sensitise the underprivileged women of Poonch, the District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK), on Thursday organised an awareness camp to educate the Girls living in Nari Niketan Mangnar Poonch about the importance of Menstrual Hygiene.
Women Welfare Officer, Priya Sharma along with District Co-ordinators, Noreen Azam and Tirath Kour provided sanitary pads for one year to the needy girls as they do not have access to sanitary napkins, and depend on unhygienic alternatives like rag, cloth, ash, sand, and many more, Besides, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic it has become even more difficult for poor women to access menstrual hygiene products.
Women Welfare Officer; Priya Sharma stressed on the importance of menstrual hygiene, and said that ‘if we want to remove the stigma of Menstrual Hygiene from the society, we have to educate the masses.’
District Coordinators Tirath Kour and Nooreen Azam also enlightened them about the care to be taken during menstrual cycle.
