MSME Minister launches TNIMM Report in the Tamil Nadu Startup Incubators Summit

Issues sanction orders to 15 women led Startups for the reimbursement of incubation fees to the tune of Rs 14.70 lakh.

 

Chennai :  Minister for MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. T.M. Anbarasan launched the Tamil Nadu Incubator Maturity Model (TNIMM) report in the Tamil Nadu Startup Incubators Summit organised by StartupTN in Chennai on Thursday in the presence of Tmt. Archana Patnaik, I.A.S.,Secretary for MSME Department, and Thiru. Sivarajah Ramanathan, Mission Director and CEO of StartupTN.

The Hon’ble Minister gave away Rs 5 lakh each to 15 selected incubators to carry out sector-focused activities, aiming to motivate incubators to carry out initiatives.

The Hon’ble Minister handed over sanction orders to the tune of Rs 14.70 lakh to 15 women entrepreneurs under the StartupTN’s Women Initiative to reimburse money they had spent towards Incubator rentals and facilities for their Startup growth

The Hon’ble Minister launched an exclusive portal named ‘StartupTN Catalyst’ to connect Startups with appropriate Incubators. The details of 120+ Incubators have been made available in the portal, making the connection between Startups and Incubators easy.

He gave away StartupTN Smart Cards for 52 Incubators. Smart cards grant access to various services including auditing, branding, marketing, and documentation required for Incubators at discounted rates.

TNIMM is a framework for assessing Startup Incubators across the state by meticulously identifying various parameters and criteria to promote them. An incubator helps early-stage startups grow by providing support, resources and guidance.

The framework was released to motivate incubators to compare themselves with top performers and improve their standards. The initiative is aimed at making Tamil Nadu the preferred Startup ecosystem in India and positioning it competitively among global ecosystems.

The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking steps to make young graduates as entrepreneurs and bring them into the economic mainstream to achieve the goal of a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

StartupTN sees Incubation Centres as key players in achieving this dream. This framework aims to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of Incubation Centres, enabling them to provide high-quality services to startups under their wing

Four MoUs were signed with banks to streamline Startup support, making access to resources more accessible. The banks involved in these agreements include HDFC, SBI, Federal Bank, and Yes Bank.

A panel discussion on ‘TNIMM Wayforward’ moderated by Thiru. Sivarajah Ramanathan was held as part of the event. The discussion saw the participation of Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan, former Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission, Mr. M.V. Subramanian, Partner, July Ventures and Mr. A.J. Balasubramanian, Director, Aigilx Health.

A workshop on ‘Fundraising for Incubators through CSR’ was held with the participation of Dr Divya Rajput, CEO, JSS STEP and CSR Expert.
