Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister for Minority Affairs to inaugurate PHDCCI’s 5th Global Film Tourism Conclave in Mumbai

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) will be organizing its flagship event – 5th Global Film Tourism Conclave (GFTC) with the theme ‘Unleashing the Power of Cinematic Tourism’ on Friday, 1 July 2022 from 3:00 PM onwards at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Maharashtra.

 

GFTC provides a unique platform for Film Commissions, Tourism Boards and Production Houses to promote their locations, incentives and services to the vibrant Indian film industry.

 

Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Minority Affairs will be the Chief Guest and inaugurate the Conclave. Shri Arvind Singh (IAS), Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India will be the Guest of Honour at the event.

 

Senior officials from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) shall also be gracing the event.

 

Mr. Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI, said, “Several destinations have gained in terms of tourist influx by being the location of popular domestic and international cinema. In addition to the exposure provided through such films, there are many ancillary gains to the destination like income generation, investment, job creation, which contribute to the overall economic development of the respective destination.”

 

Renowned veterans of the Indian film industry like Mr. Randhir Kapoor, Mr. Anees Bazmee, Mr. Rahul Rawail, shall be honoured with GFTC Felicitation this year. Senior officials from 20 Production Houses have confirmed their presence for the programme.

 

Mr. Pawan S. Jain, Chair – Tourism & Hospitality Committee, PHDCCI, said, “Film Tourism describes the effects that cinema can have on our travel decisions as they inspire people to experience the screened places first hand. Not only is cinematic tourism an excellent vehicle for destination marketing, it also presents new product development opportunities, such as location tours, film museums, exhibitions and the theming of existing tourist attractions with a film connection.”

 

Representatives from tourism boards like Chhattisgarh, Hungary, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Norway, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey among others will talk about the incentive schemes for film shootings in their destinations.

 

Mr. Rajan Sehgal, Co-Chair – Tourism & Hospitality Committee, PHDCCI, said, “Film Tourism is not only a niche segment for destination marketing, it also presents new product development opportunities, such as location tours, film museums and the theming of existing tourist attractions with a film connection. PHDCCI has been organizing the Global Film Tourism Conclave for the past four years and the response is encouraging every year.”

 

Panel Discussions for promotion of Film Tourism in India as well as in other countries will be conducted during the Conclave. In parallel to the Panel Discussions, there will also be an Exhibition Platform for destinations and private organizations to showcase their locations, tax incentives and other services.
