Mumbai Students to participate in the First Robotics Competition to be held in Australia

Mumbai: Team 6024, “R Factor” a group of 25 students from 9 different schools in Mumbai are invited to display their robots at the Nehru Science Centre as part of the National Science Day Celebrations on 21 Feb, 2018. These students have emerged as ambassadors to spread the importance of robotics in day-to-day needs and business applications.
Currently this team is building a robot to participate in the First Robotics Competition to be held in Australia at the Sydney Olympic Park in March 2018. They operate out of the Parle Factory.
Recently the team won a Gold and a Bronze Medal among 160 countries in the prestigious First Global competition held in Washington this year; they have won the Entrepreneurship Award, the Quality Award and were the runners up for the Safety Animation award at the previous First Robotic Competitions. The team members amongst themselves have 44 international and national awards in robotics and STEM. Our team is proud to have 100% of our alumni pursuing STEM majors in college.
Most importantly, the team have funded two teams of underprivileged children and formed 2 all girls team to take part in the FLL competition. Towards getting in gender equality, team has also grown in the number of girls who participate; beginning with just 1 girl in 2016 to now 4 girls in the team
These students, who are part of the global community programme FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) have taken the initiative to showcase robots at over 50 + schools in Mumbai inspiring several students to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
FIRST’s Team “R Factor” is passionate about robotics and the team members spend after school hours building the robot during the competition period. The team has participated in various international robotic competitions and this has prepared team members for success in the academic environment and beyond.
The students have already received aid from donors via crowd funding in support of their commendable work. Infosys, a global leader in technology services & consulting has been associated as a lead sponsor, for past two years.
