Mumkin-Youth livelihood programme launched in Rajouri; 41 young beneficiaries get small commercial vehicles

 

 

RAJOURI : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today launched the youth livelihood programme ‘Mumkin’ by giving away keys of subsidized small commercial vehicles to 41 young selected beneficiaries.

Among the others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Pawan Kumar; LDM JK Bank, Jyoti Prakash; ARTO, Shami Kumar Sharma; Employment Officer, Mohd Aslam and youth from different areas of the district attended the launching event.

MUMKIN scheme aims to uplift, mentor and provide sustainable livelihood to the youth. The idea behind this initiative is to provide small commercial vehicles to unemployed youth at reasonable subsidies provided by the manufacturer and the government, enabling them to earn a decent livelihood.

Under the scheme, eligible young people will be provided financial assistance for the purchase of light commercial vehicles such as taxis, minibuses, light commercial vehicles, tempo and other modes of transportation of similar nature.

The beneficiaries, under the scheme, are supported by Ashok Leyland and the Government of J&K through cash assistance to meet their margin requirements including insurance/registration charges and initial repayment obligation (EMIS).

While speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner said that Mumkin aims to move towards the creation of a better socio-economic ecosystem, self-employment opportunities and elimination of poverty among the youth.

He informed that as many as 1000 youth of the district would be covered under the scheme in its first phase and the cases of 200 beneficiaries stand sanctioned as of now.

He stressed upon the concerned functionaries to disseminate awareness about the scheme among the masses so that more and more individuals get benefited.
