MVD launches massive enforcement drive across Jammu division to check overloading, HSRP norms
378 vehicles challaned/compounded, Rs. 2,77,100/- realised as a fine after compounding & Rs. 2,70,000/ expected from the challaned vehicles
JAMMU : A major enforcement drive was launched by MVD teams headed by the respective RTOs/ARTOs in the Districts for checking instances of overloading of passenger vehicles and enforcing compulsory affixation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) across different places of Jammu division.
In Jammu District, a team of the officers of Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO BOI-G, Jammu Pawan Sharma conducted physical checking of Motor Vehicles under the supervision of RTO, Jammu at different places on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During the drive 187 vehicles were checked, out of which 43 vehicles especially passenger buses and Tempo Travellers which were destined to Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Ramban, Banihal, Gandoh, Reasi and Udhampur were found either overloaded or loaded with goods in violation of Motor Vehicle Act were challaned and compounded on spot. During the drive an amount of Rs. 1,32,000 was recovered by the violators onspot.
In Samba District, a team of the officers of Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO Samba, Rehana Tabassum also conducted physical checking of vehicles at different places in the district Samba. During the drive 58 vehicles were challaned/compounded and fine to the of Rs. 37000 was realised from the violators from the spot and Rs. 18000 is expected from the remaining challans.
In Udhampur District, a team of the officers of Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO Udhampur, Jugal Kishore Sharma also conducted physical checking of vehicles at different places in the district Udhampur. During the drive 57 vehicles were challaned/compounded and fine to the tune of Rs. 14500 was realised from the violators from the spot and Rs. 1,90,000 is expected from the remaining challans. Doda District:
Similarly, MVD team headed by ARTO, Doda, Kuldeep Singh conducted physical checking of passenger and goods vehicles on Batote Doda Road and Doda Marmat Road. During the drive 92 vehicles were checked out which 27 vehicles were found either overloaded or without fitment of HSRP and challaned on spot.
In Reasi, Motor Vehicle Department headed by ARTO, Reasi, Rajesh Gupta conducted physical checking of Motor Vehicles on Katra Reasi Road. During the drive 05 vehicles were challaned for not affixation of HSRP and incomplete documents. Similarly, 05 vehicles were also seized due to deficient documents and without HSRP affixation. During the drive Rs. 6000 fine was also realised from the violators from onspot.
In Kishtwar District, the team of the officers of Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO, Ramesh Kumar Samotra conducted physical checking of the vehicles at different places in district Kishtwar. During the drive 12 vehicles were found violation of MV Act and without affixation of HSRP and fine to the tune of Rs. 6000 was realised on sport from the violators.
In Rajouri, Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO, Shammi Kumar Sharma conducted physical checking of the vehicles on Jammu-Poonch National Highway and some link roads of Nowshera. During the drive, 26 vehicles were challaned and 13 vehicles offence were compounded and fine of Rs. 18000 was realised from on the spot.
In Ramban, Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO, Ramban, Shafqat Majid Bhat conducted physical checking of vehicles on NH44 and some other areas of Ramban and during the drive 28 vehicles were challaned/compounded and fine to the tune of Rs. 12100/ was recovered from the violation from spot.
In Kathua District, Motor Vehicles Department headed by ARTO, Neeraj Sharma under the supervision of RTO, Kathua conducted physical checking of vehicles. During the physical checking of 89 vehicles were challaned/compounded and a fine to the tune of Rs. 51,500 was realised from the violators onspot.
