My Youth My Pride: Officers of Sports Council reach to youth in Central & South Kashmir
SRINAGAR: In the public out-reach programme under Jan Abhiyan and B2V4, Officers from J&K sports Council visited many panchayats and had a series of interaction with the locals which chiefly comprised of youth, with many of them being the professional sports persons and yet a vast majority of them being students, waiting in wings to start their sports career.
A function under the programme was organised by J&K Sports Council in collaboration with local Administration in Women’s ITI at Kangan, Ganderbal today.
Secretary Sports Council highlighted the importance and benefits of sports besides initiatives taken by the administration to upgrade sports infrastructure and provide quality coaching.
Responding to various issues raised by the youth regarding sports, Nuzhat Gull assured that every step shall be taken to maximise the benefit of various schemes launched by the government.
During the last outing alone, sports equipment and gear were provided to players from weaker sections of society and a lot of talent was scouted by way of the sports flagship programme My Youth My Pride.
A huge gathering of participants including sports persons, citizens attended the day-long programme.
SDM Kangan, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Tehsildar Kangan, officials from local administration and council also attended the function.
A number of sports activities were also conducted during the programme.
Meanwhile Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Joint Secretary also visited Nilandrusu in South Kashmir under a similar programme, where a huge number of youth including citizens participated.
Joint Secretary Sports Council made people aware about the mega sports programs being carried out by the council.
Bashir Ahmad also apprised the presentees about the benefits of the JK sports policy, and a checklist of recognised sports disciplines, national as well as international events besides various other incentives being offered under the sports policy.
Joint Secretary Sports Council also informed the audience about the services offered by the council at the panchayat level for rural children and requested for the dissemination of all such information to family as well as friends so that more and more people are able to avail the benefits that these programmes encompass.
