Nanjing University and Springer Nature Group Sign New Cooperation Agreement

On the afternoon of May 21, Arnout Jacobs, President of Springer Nature Greater China, and his delegation visited Nanjing University. Lu Yanqing, Vice President of Nanjing University, met with the guests. The two sides discussed further deepening cooperation and signed a new round of cooperation agreement. Representatives from the Science and Technology Department, the Library, and the Internationalization Office attended the meeting.

Lu Yanqing first welcomed the guests to visit our university on the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of the university. He briefly reviewed the cooperation between the two sides and introduced the recent development of Nanjing University, scientific research achievements and new internationalization initiatives. He said that Nanjing University has carried out mutually beneficial and pragmatic cooperation with Springer Nature Group through joint publication of journals and scientific research training. In the future, the two sides can combine their advantages in cutting-edge scientific research fields and deepen cooperation around emerging interdisciplinary disciplines in Suzhou Campus, help Nanjing University climb to the peak of scientific research, explore new growth points for traditional disciplines, broaden new paths for discipline development, find new entry points for school-local cooperation, and inject new momentum into the construction of Nanjing University into a highland of scientific research talents that solves common human problems and leads social progress and regional development.

Anuojie first expressed his gratitude for the warm meeting with Nanjing University, and briefly introduced the development of Springer Nature Group in China and its scientific journals. He said that Springer Nature Group attaches great importance to the cooperative relationship with Nanjing University, and the two sides have a very consistent scientific research concept for global issues. In the future, relying on the Springer Nature Nanjing Office, it will further support and deepen exchanges and cooperation with Nanjing University.

The two sides conducted in-depth discussions during the interactive exchange session. Jiang Tian, ​​director of the Science and Technology Department of our university, expressed the hope to cooperate with Nature to promote the holding of high-quality scientific research forums and promote paradigm shifts and method innovations in scientific research publicity. Shao Bo, deputy director of the library, said that the two sides can further promote the incremental development of electronic resources and publications through platforms such as the Digital Alliance and strengthen universal cooperation. Hu Jie, deputy director of the Internationalization Department, said that both sides need to increase publicity for projects such as the Nature Master Lecture Online Classroom, and expand areas of cooperation based on common interests in the humanities and social sciences. Cen Lichao, director of institutional and corporate cooperation for Greater China at Springer Nature Group, said that in the future, he hopes to rely on the construction of the Suzhou campus to deepen cooperation with Nanjing University in talent introduction and international brand building, and at the same time explore the possibility of cooperation between the two sides in forum and summit publicity and school-government-enterprise linkage.

After the meeting, the two sides held a signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement. The signing of this agreement will continue the existing cooperation between the two sides and build an important framework for further deepening exchanges and achieving win-win development. In addition, Su Mengying, senior editor of Nature Communications, gave a report to our teachers and students at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and held discussions with representatives of teachers from related disciplines. During this visit, the guests also visited our school anniversary special exhibition “The Great Accumulation and Broad Flow·The Prosperity of Nanyong”.
